Mutant Alert! A terrorist group of militant freaks strikes again and again. The targets of their reckless and brutal actions: the rich and beautiful, fitness studios, doctors, sperm banks... everything that serves human optimization and beauty. The seven-member anarchist crew consists of the disfigured leader Ramón, Siamese twins Alex and Juan, Cesar Ravenstein with an explosive implant in his chest, the repeatedly convicted José, the deaf and mentally disabled Gonzales, as well as the hunchbacked, dwarfish Montero. Their latest coup is supposed to be the kidnapping of a beautiful industrialist's daughter, but greedy Ramón soon wants to get rid of the rest of the crew, and so the subsequent flight through space, complete with a crash landing on the planet Axturias inhabited by depraved lunatics, completely spirals out of control...

Álex de la Iglesia's dark-humored, over-the-top debut film – produced by master Pedro Almodóvar – is cultishly revered by many, for it is a taste-boundary-transgressing firework, an eccentric melange of sci-fi and comic elements, social and media criticism, genre caricature, and bloody splatter. Mutant Action was Álex de la Iglesia's launch into a series of cult films – which subsequently included El día de la bestia and Perdita Durango.
